After flying high against the Mary M. Knight Owls last Tuesday, the Pe Ell Trojans came back down to earth. Pe Ell was the victim of a tough 53-28 defeat at the hands of Willapa Valley on Thursday. Pe Ell was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Willapa Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Willapa Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Ritzman, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Connor Keeton, who scored eight points.
Something new happened on Thursday as Brody Aust saw his first action of the season, playing nine minutes against Pe Ell. Aust made the most of the opportunity, scoring seven points along with five rebounds. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Pe Ell has not been sharp recently as the team has lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Willapa Valley, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
Pe Ell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Willapa Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge Taholah at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Willapa Valley is facing Taholah at the right time seeing as Taholah is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
