Basketball Recap: Palo Verde Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mater Academy East Las Vegas, Palo Verde was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They escaped with a win against the Arbor View Aggies by the margin of a single free throw, 42-41. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Panthers also won the last time the pair played back in February.

Palo Verde's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Reagan Nehls led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine boards. Nehls is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Madeline Tsui, who posted six points in addition to six rebounds and six steals.

Palo Verde moved to 4-8 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Arbor View, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

Palo Verde has already played their next game, a 22-15 defeat against Jordan on the 21st. After both having extra time off, Arbor View and Desert Oasis will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 6:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Arbor View is facing Desert Oasis at the right time seeing as Desert Oasis is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
