After flying high against the Birch Run Panthers last Tuesday, the Lakeville Falcons came back down to earth. Lakeville had to suffer through a rough 66-26 loss at the hands of Ovid-Elsie. While losing is never fun, Lakeville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while Ovid-Elsie is ranked 65th).
Ava Bates continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ovid-Elsie, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Ellyanna Carman was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Lakeville's loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3. As for Ovid-Elsie, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
Lakeville will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Chesaning at 5:30 p.m. Chesaning is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Ovid-Elsie won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Petoskey at 4:00 p.m. on January 20th.
