New Hope Academy will head out on the road to face off against Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. New Hope Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,805 points over their last 25 matchups.
New Hope Academy pushed their score all the way to 71 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 80-71 to Fairfax Christian. While losing is never fun, New Hope Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 91st in Maryland, while Fairfax Christian is ranked tenth in Virginia).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jalen Martinez, who scored 26 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. DJ Thomas was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South pushed their score all the way to 61 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 71-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South in their matchups with Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North: they've now lost six in a row.
New Hope Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-20 record this season. As for Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South, they dropped their record down to 4-11 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Things could have been worse for New Hope Academy, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-51 loss to Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South when the teams last played back in December of 2017. Can New Hope Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
