McKenzie's and Houston County's matchup on Friday was close at halftime, but McKenzie turned on the heat in the second half with 45 points. The McKenzie Rebels were the clear victor by a 76-54 margin over the Houston County Fighting Irish. The Rebels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Houston County lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Townes Epps, who posted nine points. That's the most points Epps has posted since back in November of 2024. Hagan Honeycutt was another key player, putting up ten points and seven assists.

The victory snapped McKenzie's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-8 record. As for Houston County, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-8.

McKenzie will square off against Huntingdon at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Huntingdon's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests. As for Houston County, they will challenge Waverly Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Houston County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.6 points per game this season.
