The Albany Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Encinal Jets at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
It was a proper cat-fight when Albany took on Saint Mary's on Friday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won eight contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Mackenzie Marion was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Lily Muscardin also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.
Albany always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .792. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Encinal let El Cerrito stack five runs on them in the seventh inning on Saturday but luckily Encinal prevailed anyway. The Jets had just enough and edged out the Gauchos 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Jets have posted since April 30, 2025.
Emiko Takemoto made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up five earned (and four unearned) runs off 11 hits. Takemoto was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Jaydah Tautalatasi - Robinson was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Sonia Walker was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Encinal pushed their record up to 9-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Albany, their record is now 11-6.
Albany might still be hurting after the 16-2 defeat they got from Encinal in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
