Desert Mountain recap September 4, 2013
Daniel Quixchan of Silver Valley ran for the longest rushing play in Desert Mountain this season against Crean Lutheran last week. Quixchan scampered for 76 yards on the play and finished with 169 on the day as his team beat the Saints.
Desert Christian moved up to 859 from 907 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Knights climbed the ranks as a result of besting California City 34-0.
Evan Martinez and Quixchan gave Silver Valley a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Brian Ili also contributed to the rushing game with 87 yards on the ground.
Martinez and Quixchan gave John Stewart's team a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week.
Chad Gleason was the best receiver in the league this week as Desert fell to Fillmore. Gleason racked up 5 receptions for 101 yards. Matthew Steele helped Desert's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 24 yards.
Quixchan was the best running back in Desert Mountain this week.
Martinez put up the best numbers in passing as the Trojans defeated Crean Lutheran. He finished with a total of 9 completions for 145 yards and 2 touchdowns. Martinez's favorite target this week was Bailey Rettmann, who caught 3 passes for 69 yards.
Quixchan provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Silver Valley beat Brett Mertens' team.
On the heels of Martinez and Quixchan, the Trojans have had great success on offense. Martinez leads the league in passing with 145 yards, while Quixchan has rushed for 169 yards this season. The Scorpions' Gleason leads the league in receiving yards with 101 on 5 catches.
An important game coming up this the league this week will be when Vasquez takes on Desert. The Mustangs are currently in third, while the Scorpions are in seventh.
Silver Valley took down the Saints 42-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Martinez in the win.
