The Nanih Waiya Warriors fell victim to the Velma Jackson Falcons''s stalwart defense on Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 52-0 loss at the hands of the Falcons. While losing is never fun, Nanih Waiya can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 229th, while Velma Jackson is ranked 49th).
It was another big night for Gavin Griffin, who rushed for 135 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries, and also picked up 75 receiving yards. Griffin was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 61 yards. Another player making a difference was Terrelle Smith, who threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns on only eight passes.
Nanih Waiya has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Velma Jackson, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Nanih Waiya does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Velma Jackson will be playing in front of their home fans against East Marion at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd.
