The Mohave Thunderbirds managed to keep up with the Estrella Foothills Wolves until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Mohave had to suffer through a rough 69-40 loss at the hands of Estrella Foothills. Mohave's loss continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it four in a row.
Despite the loss, Mohave saw an underclassman step up: Gavin Way Holmes scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Devon Cook, who scored nine points.
Mohave's defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-9. As for Estrella Foothills, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mohave and Coconino will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Estrella Foothills, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Deer Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
