The Hartsville Red Foxes will head out to square off against the West Florence Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
West Florence will be up against a hot Hartsville squad: the team just extended their winning streak to ten. The Red Foxes were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over Chesterfield on Tuesday.
Allie Bailey looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Hartsville got a massive performance out of Myah Harvey, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. EmmaKate Hudson also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Hartsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .552. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in seven consecutive games.
Meanwhile, West Florence got the win against Westwood on Tuesday by a conclusive 14-3.
Annie Ruth Eliason was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Eliason was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Charisma Williams was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hannah Grace Duke, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
West Florence is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hartsville, they pushed their record up to 19-4 with the victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Hartsville hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like West Florence struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Hartsville might still be hurting after the 7-0 loss they got from West Florence in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Red Foxes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
