Village is 0-3 against the Apaches since January of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Village Vikings will head out on the road to square off against the Antonian Prep Apaches at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, it was a hard-fought match, but Village had to settle for a 66-64 loss against the Eagles. Village has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Antonian Prep entered their tilt with the Buttons with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Antonian Prep walked away with a 76-64 win over the Buttons on Tuesday. Given Antonian Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Buttons are ranked 550th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Village's loss dropped their record down to 15-15. As for Antonian Prep, they pushed their record up to 24-6 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Village took a serious blow against the Apaches in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 80-40. Can Village avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
