Basketball Game Preview: Purchase Line Red Dragons vs. Harmony Area Owls

The Purchase Line Red Dragons will be taking part in a tournament against the Harmony Area Owls at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Purchase Line is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Marion Center on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Purchase Line was outmatched by Marion Center and fell 67-40. The Red Dragons have struggled against the Stingers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite their defeat, Purchase Line saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jakob Mountain, who posted nine points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals, was perhaps the best of all. The dominant performance gave Mountain a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Stephen Perruso, who had 11 points.

Even though they lost, Purchase Line smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Harmony Area was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Penns Manor an easy 57-34 win.

Purchase Line's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Harmony Area, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Purchase Line won a match that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played on Monday, slipping by Harmony Area 42-41. Does Purchase Line have another victory up their sleeve, or will Harmony Area turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
