The Okeene Whippets will head out on the road to face off against the Covington-Douglas Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Covington-Douglas took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Okeene, who comes in off a win.
Okeene put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 56-20 victory over Canton at home. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Okeene's 12-point performance the contest before.
Meanwhile, Covington-Douglas faced Seiling in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Covington-Douglas was dealt a 48-0 loss at the hands of Seiling on Friday. It was the first time this season that Covington-Douglas let down their fans at home.
Okeene is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Covington-Douglas, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 7-2.
Okeene ended up a good deal behind Covington-Douglas in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, losing 28-12. Can Okeene avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
