The LaCrosse Leopards won the last time they faced the Dighton Hornets, and things went their way on Tuesday too. LaCrosse enjoyed a cozy 47-30 victory over Dighton. Given LaCrosse's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Dighton is ranked 283rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
LaCrosse's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Madison Morgan led the charge by scoring 19 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Morgan's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Avery Parrott, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Despite the defeat, Dighton saw an underclassman step up: Lani Speer scored 12 points along with five blocks. Those five blocks set a new season-high mark for her.
The win makes it two in a row for LaCrosse and bumps their season record up to 4-1. As for Dighton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. LaCrosse is on the road again on Friday and play against Otis-Bison at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Otis-Bison will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Dighton, they will head out on the road to face off against Wallace County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
