After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Tucker, the M.L. King Lions were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 72-63 win over Chamblee. Given M.L. King's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while Chamblee is ranked 344th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kennedy Ruzvidzo jr. was his usual excellent self, shooting 5-for-9 from long range and dropping a double-double on 38 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of M.L. King's points. Noah Brown was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Chamblee still got an impressive performance from Ramon McDaniel, Jr., who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and 1 assists. The match was McDaniel, Jr.'s third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Eli Starr, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.
M.L. King's victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Chamblee, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. M.L. King's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Decatur at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Chamblee will take on Tucker at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tucker will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
