After flying high against the Willits Wolverines on Wednesday, the Middletown Mustangs came back down to earth. Middletown took a 65-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clear Lake. Middletown was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Clear Lake apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Clear Lake's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cody Hayes, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. The contest was Hayes' 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Graden Greer, who scored 18 points along with three steals.
Middletown's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Clear Lake, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Middletown will take on Lower Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lower Lake has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 2. As for Clear Lake, they will head out on the road to face off against Willits at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Willits is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
