McAllen is 8-0 against the Tigers since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The McAllen Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Valley View Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
McAllen unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost to Vela on the road by a decisive 56-42 margin. While losing is never fun, McAllen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while the Sabercats are ranked 124th).
McAllen's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mario Villegas, who scored 12 points, and D'aundre Canada who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Valley View's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight defeat. The matchup between them and Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North wasn't particularly close, with Valley View falling 58-43. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Valley View in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now lost eight in a row.
McAllen's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-10. As for Valley View, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 15 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-23 record this season.
Everything went McAllen's way against the Tigers when the teams last played back in January as the Bulldogs made off with a 72-51 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for McAllen since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
