The Mohave Accelerated Patriots are taking a road trip to face off against the Desert Heights Prep Yote at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Mohave Accelerated is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: El Capitan, who was ranked 20th at the time (Mohave Accelerated was ranked 13th). The Patriots enjoyed a cozy 28-14 win over the Eagles on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

Martin Abundiz was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 121 yards and one TD, and also threw for 20 yards and one touchdown. Those 121 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mohave Accelerated was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 251 rushing yards. They are a perfect 4-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Mohave Accelerated didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Owen Honegger and Logan Lewis. Lewis also made four total tackles, which is notable because Mohave Accelerated is 4-1 when he posts at least four total tackles, but 1-2 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Desert Heights Prep took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 54-6 win over Valley Lutheran. Considering the Yote have won three matchups by more than 43 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Desert Heights Prep's win came from a few key players Mohave Accelerated will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Justin Aguon, who rushed for 124 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries, and also threw for 58 yards and one TD. Desert Heights Prep's leading receiver Mateo Kindler was Aguon's top target yet again, picking up 40 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 83 yards and a pair of scores on only five carries.
Mohave Accelerated's record now sits at 5-3. As for Desert Heights Prep, their record is now 6-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Mohave Accelerated has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 170.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Desert Heights Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 191 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Mohave Accelerated against Desert Heights Prep in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, as the squad secured a 50-18 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
