The South Aiken Thoroughbreds lost against the Midland Valley Mustangs back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. South Aiken's rough 63-37 defeat to the Mustangs might stick with them for a while. South Aiken has not had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
South Aiken's loss came despite strong showings from Ladontae Felton and Kelton Walker. Felton scored 13 points, while Walker scored six points along with three blocks.
South Aiken has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season. As for Midland Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 5-14.
South Aiken will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Fighting Green Hornets at 7:30 p.m. Aiken presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Thoroughbreds in South Carolina (the Fighting Green Hornets are ranked 78th, while the Thoroughbreds are ranked 206th). As for Midland Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against the Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Augusta knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully the Mustangs like a good challenge.
