Softball Game Preview: Dorman Cavaliers vs. Riverside Warriors

Dorman is a perfect 10-0 against Riverside since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Cavaliers will square off against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Dorman will be strutting in after a win while Riverside will be coming in after a loss.

Dorman is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Eastside with a sharp 23-1 victory on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Cavaliers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Hayden Bright made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leah Taylor, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emerson McLane, who scored five runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Dorman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastside only posted an OBP of .375.

Meanwhile, Riverside didn't have quite enough to beat Hillcrest on Wednesday and fell 6-5.

Riverside now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Dorman, they moved to 9-6-1 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Dorman took their victory against Riverside in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 10-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
