The Minnechaug Regional Falcons had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They had to suffer through a rough 55-21 loss at the hands of Central. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Minnechaug Regional in their matchups with Central: they've now lost four in a row.
Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Angalece Quinones, who scored 16 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Quinones scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Angela Hector, who scored six points along with 14 rebounds and six steals.
Minnechaug Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Central, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Minnechaug Regional will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Belchertown at 6:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Central will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Northampton at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
