The Crestview Rebels are taking a road trip to challenge the LaBrae Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Crestview has given up an average of 8.1 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Crestview came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Jackson-Milton, falling 11-5.
Crestview saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cassidee Buckley, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Another was Lilly Beaver, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, LaBrae got the win against Jefferson Area on Thursday by a conclusive 14-6. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Leah DeArmitt and Riley Rowe were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, DeArmitt tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Rowe tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. DeArmitt has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. At the plate, DeArmitt went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Rowe went a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs and one RBI. That's the most hits Rowe has posted over her last 11 matchups.
In other batting news, Mariah Jones was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Shelby Bragg was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
LaBrae hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson Area struck out seven times.
Crestview has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for LaBrae, their record is now 13-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Crestview hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like LaBrae struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Crestview couldn't quite finish off LaBrae in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 and fell 7-5. Can the Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
