If the Madison-Grant Argylls were riding high off their 53-33 takedown of the Elwood Panthers last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Madison-Grant fell to Mississinewa 53-48. Madison-Grant was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mississinewa apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Madison-Grant's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mavrick Griffin, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Teagan Yeagy, who scored 15 points.
It was another big night for Preston McCann, who scored 27 points along with five rebounds and four steals for Mississinewa. The contest was McCann's third in a row with at least ten points. Jesse Simpkins was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Madison-Grant's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-3. As for Mississinewa, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison-Grant won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Tri-Central at 7:30 p.m. on December 16th. Tri-Central is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 63.3 points per game. Mississinewa won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lapel at 7:30 p.m. on December 16th. Hopefully Lapel focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
