Even though the Trinity Christian Academy Warriors have not done well against the Atlantic Christian Sharks recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Trinity Christian Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 66-63 win over Atlantic Christian. The win was all the more spectacular given Trinity Christian Academy's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 495th, while Atlantic Christian is ranked 195th).
Trinity Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Carter Kuzmin led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. The match was Kuzmin's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Demetrius Robinson Jr, who scored 11 points along with five assists.
Trinity Christian Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.7 points per game. As for Atlantic Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-2.
Coincidentally, Trinity Christian Academy and Atlantic Christian will both be playing Somerset Academy - Canyons the next time they take the court. Trinity Christian Academy will head out to face Somerset Academy - Canyons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Atlantic Christian will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
