Basketball Recap: Andee Sandlin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Garland Christian Academy over Ovilla Christian

The Garland Christian Academy Swordsmen fell 49-38 to the Ovilla Christian Eagles on Tuesday. The Swordsmen have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Garland Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andee Sandlin, who went 5 of 12 en route to 11 points and three steals. Sandlin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ima Owat, who posted two points along with six steals and five boards.

Sophie Henry continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ovilla Christian, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 23 rebounds. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which Henry has scored at least a third of Ovilla Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Collette Gentry, who had seven points in addition to six boards and six steals.

Garland Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Ovilla Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
