Warren Central has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Grenada Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Warren Central had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past Saltillo, posting a 46-19 victory at home. Given Warren Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Saltillo is ranked 93rd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Warren Central can attribute much of their success to Eric Collins Jr., who rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns. Collins Jr.'s longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Aden Greer, who rushed for 55 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last contest, Grenada made sure to put some points up on the board against Vicksburg on Friday. Grenada took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 37-8 victory over Vicksburg. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 24-0.
Warren Central pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-10 Columbus and 3-7 Ridgeland (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 34% over those games). As for Grenada, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
