Baseball Recap: East Lake Extends Winning Streak to Three

East Lake barely beat Wiregrass Ranch the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. East Lake's pitcher stepped up to hand Wiregrass Ranch a 6-0 shutout on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Dane Wright's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Camden Boehm, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.

The win (which was East Lake's third in a row) raised their record to 11-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Wiregrass Ranch, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Lake will host Pinellas Park at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last five games Pinellas Park has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Wiregrass Ranch, they will welcome Springstead at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wiregrass Ranch is facing Springstead at the right time seeing as Springstead is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
