Tuscarawas Valley hasn't had much luck against Strasburg-Franklin recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Trojans will face off against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Tuscarawas Valley had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Union Local on Wednesday. The Trojans never let the Jets get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Trojans considering their one-run performance the match before.

Brennen Reichman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 19 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
In other batting news, Calli Stutz was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April. Kyra Garbrandt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Frontier typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Strasburg-Franklin proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Cougars. The victory was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on seven straight.
Like Tuscarawas Valley, Strasburg-Franklin also got a great game from a two-way player: Miley Reifenschneider. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Reifenschneider was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Strasburg-Franklin let Addie Sundheimer and Olivia Spidell run wild. Sundheimer went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Spidell got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Rylee Becker, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Tuscarawas Valley pushed their record up to 22-1 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Strasburg-Franklin, their record now sits at 16-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Tuscarawas Valley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Strasburg-Franklin struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Tuscarawas Valley might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Strasburg-Franklin in their previous meeting back in May of 2022. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
