Richland Northeast is 2-8 against Ridge View since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Richland Northeast Cavaliers will be playing at home against the Ridge View Blazers at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Richland Northeast posted their biggest victory yet this season on Monday. They really took it to Hannah-Pamplico for the full four quarters, racking up a 57-30 win on the road. Given Richland Northeast's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Hannah-Pamplico is ranked 244th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Richland Northeast's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chris Asuzu led the charge by scoring ten points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Asuzu has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Od Grier, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Ridge View unfortunately witnessed the end of their 16-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of Westwood by a score of 66-64. The game was a 31-31 toss-up at halftime, but Ridge View was outscored by Westwood in the second.
Richland Northeast's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Ridge View, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-1.
Richland Northeast didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Ridge View when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 54-49 victory.
