The Boone Braves will head out on the road to take on the East Ridge Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Boone is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Boone fell victim to Timber Creek and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolves. The Braves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Samantha Johnson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Boone saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paige Barry, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, East Ridge is still undefeated this season after their match against Timber Creek on Friday, but Timber Creek came as close as anyone has to beating them. East Ridge came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against Timber Creek. The five-run effort marked the Knights' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Adyson Liddick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Veronica Peterson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Olivia Shoemaker, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
East Ridge's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Boone, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Boone hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like East Ridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .343. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
