Northside - Jacksonville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Joaliel Caraballo, who went 7 of 10 en route to 15 points in addition to six boards and six steals, and Peyton Mayhew, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Caraballo has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jamir Mitchell, who posted six points and eight boards.
Even though they lost, Northside - Jacksonville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, South Central earned a 67-59 win over Ayden - Grifton on Saturday.
South Central's win came from a few key players Northside - Jacksonville will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Justin Blow, who went 7 for 9 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds. Quamaine Holloway was another key player, putting up 17 points.
South Central now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Northside - Jacksonville, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Northside - Jacksonville has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 30.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like South Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
