Granger is 1-9 against Taylorsville since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Granger Lancers will head out on the road to square off against the Taylorsville Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Granger is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
Granger pushed their score all the way to 64 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 81-64 to Hunter. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Granger in their matchups with Hunter: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the loss, Granger got a solid performance out of Daudi Aweyso, who scored 20 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Tidwell, who scored four points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Taylorsville ended up a good deal behind Juan Diego Catholic on Tuesday and lost 71-53. Taylorsville was down 60-32 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite their defeat, Taylorsville saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Bronson Dallimore, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Dallimore hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for eight straight games. Logan Bertagnolli was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Granger's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Taylorsville, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Granger have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Taylorsville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Granger came up short against Taylorsville in their previous meeting on January 3rd, falling 62-51. Can Granger avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
