1A-1 Region II District 8 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Honey Grove moved up to 516 from 578 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 1A-1 Region II District 8. A 53-0 win over Tom Bean helped the Warriors improve their standing.
Honey Grove took down the Tomcats 53-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Celeste's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Braden Morrow threw for 92 and one touchdown and Colton Smith had 27 yards receiving. On the ground Zack Brumfield chipped in 177 yards. Bryce Keiffer helped Celeste's passing attack out by catching two balls for 25 yards.
The Blue Devils' Morrow and Keiffer have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Morrow has thrown for 467 yards this season, while Keiffer, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 12 catches for 199 yards. Hunter Jordan from Boles leads the league in rushing with 478 yards.
Brian Lewis's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 53 points on Tom Bean.
