The Wheatmore Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their 12th straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 68-52 to College Prep & Leadership Academy.
Despite the loss, Wheatmore still got an impressive performance from Parker Kines, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Nyamongo, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks.
College Prep & Leadership Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Marlon Carson out in front who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 0 assists. Those 24 points set a new season-high mark for him. Tyrie Pressley was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and six blocks.
Wheatmore bumped their record down to 1-12 with that defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.
Wheatmore is on the road again on Friday and play against Eastern Randolph at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. Eastern Randolph has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 273 points over their last four games. College Prep & Leadership Academy and Bishop McGuinness will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Bishop McGuinness' favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
