Basketball Recap: Joshua Knapp Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Central Christian

There's no place like home for Konos Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They skirted past the Central Christian Crusaders 72-69. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 64-32 back in December of 2024.

Konos Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joshua Knapp led the charge by going 8 of 18 on his way to 20 points. Knapp's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Samuel Brezina was another key player, going 7 for 10 en route to 15 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Konos Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive matchups.

When it comes to explaining why Central Christian lost on Saturday, don't look at Rocky Steidinger. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 30 points and 21 rebounds. Steidinger has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more boards the last 21 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Carter Patterson, who posted ten points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.

Konos Academy moved to 7-11 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Central Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.

Konos Academy will host Springwood at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Konos Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.1 points per game this season. As for Central Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge Holy Ground Baptist Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
