Basketball Game Preview: Mackinac Island Lakers vs. Nah Tah Wahsh

Mackinac Island is 10-0 against Nah Tah Wahsh since February of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Mackinac Island Lakers will square off against Nah Tah Wahsh at 5:00 p.m. Mackinac Island is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.

Last Saturday, Mackinac Island beat Beaver Island 31-23.

Mackinac Island can attribute much of their success to Lakelyn Bunker, who posted eight points and 17 boards, and Emma Duke, who put up five points and six rebounds. Duke has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Madison Gamble was another key player, putting up nine points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Nah Tah Wahsh hadn't done well against Maplewood Baptist Academy recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Nah Tah Wahsh sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 36-33 victory over Maplewood Baptist Academy. The win made it back-to-back victories for Nah Tah Wahsh.

Mackinac Island pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.8 points per game. As for Nah Tah Wahsh, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.

Mackinac Island strolled past Nah Tah Wahsh in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 47-30. Will Mackinac Island repeat their success, or does Nah Tah Wahsh have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
