Aztec has gone 6-1 against Moriarty recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Tigers will take on the Pintos in a tournament on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
If Aztec beats Moriarty with ten runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Tigers came out on top against Belen by a score of 10-5 on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Cadin Anderson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned runs on 13 hits and racked up 12 Ks.
At the plate, Christian Holmes was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Cory Douglas was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Moriarty got the win against Gallup on Thursday by a conclusive 17-5. Considering the Pintos have won four contests by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Moriarty got a massive performance out of Tyler Denomme, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases Denomme has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Cash Klein, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Moriarty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Aztec's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Moriarty, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Aztec has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Moriarty struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Aztec was able to grind out a solid victory over Moriarty when the teams last played back in March of 2023, winning 9-4. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pintos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
