AAA District 2 recap Nov. 7, 2012
Morristown-Hamblen West was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in AAA District 2. The Trojans vanquished Cherokee 31-29 earlier in the week.
Sevier County extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Jefferson County, 27-14. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Smoky Bears.
Seymour's Nick Sexton and DJ Griffin have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Sexton has thrown for 1783 yards this season, while Griffin, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 48 catches for 738 yards. Jocquez Bruce from South-Doyle leads the league in rushing with 852 yards.
Morristown-Hamblen West made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 881 from 936. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 31-29 victory over the Chiefs last week.
