Essex has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Lancaster Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Lancaster took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Essex, who comes in off a win.
Essex put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Monday. They blew past King & Queen Central 62-23 at home. 62 seems to be a good number for Essex as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Morgan Self was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 23 rebounds. Self is crushing the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Keimare Gray was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lancaster had to suffer through a rough 40-5 loss at the hands of the Raiders. Lancaster has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Essex pushed their record up to 16-0 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Lancaster, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.
Everything came up roses for Essex against the Red Devils in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 49-8 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Essex since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
