The Bad Axe Hatchets are taking a road trip to challenge the Laker Lakers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Things were looking good for Bad Axe after they put the first run on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Sandusky by a score of 8-7. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Laker). Everything went their way against Capac on Monday as they made off with a 17-2 victory. That's two games straight that the Lakers have won by exactly 15 runs.
Lydia Smith 2028 made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Smith 2028 was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Braylynn Witt 2027 was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Ellee Armbruster 2028, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Laker was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Capac only posted a batting average of .250.
The win got Laker back to even at 7-7. As for Bad Axe, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.
Bad Axe skirted past Laker 7-5 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hatchets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
