Olathe West had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 57-38 victory over the Gardner-Edgerton Trailblazers. Given the Owls' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Trailblazers are ranked 99th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Olathe West's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-5. As for Gardner-Edgerton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Olathe West will head out to challenge Shawnee Mission Northwest at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Olathe West knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Shawnee Mission Northwest likes a good challenge. As for Gardner-Edgerton, they will head out on the road to square off against Olathe South on Tuesday.
