Unity Christian has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Unity Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
On Monday, Unity Christian took a serious blow against Tri-Valley, falling 56-21. Unity Christian has not had much luck with Tri-Valley recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Meanwhile, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond had to suffer through a rough 77-44 loss at the hands of St. Anthony. While losing is never fun, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 371st, while St. Anthony is ranked 139th).
Despite the loss, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond got a solid performance out of Claire Seal, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 rebounds. The game was Seal's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sara Herschberger, who scored 12 points.
Unity Christian bumped their record down to 1-10 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.3 points per game. As for Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.
Unity Christian suffered a grim 63-43 defeat to Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond in their previous matchup back in January. Can Unity Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
