The Hanover Wildcats pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Clifton-Clyde by a score of 57-55. While losing is never fun, Hanover can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Clifton-Clyde is ranked 20th).
Leading Clifton-Clyde to victory were Shea Wurtz and Sevy Wurtz. Wurtz scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Wurtz scored 23 points along with five rebounds. Wurtz is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played.
Hanover's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Clifton-Clyde, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Hanover's road trip will continue as they head out to face Valley Heights on January 20th. Clifton-Clyde won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Centralia on January 20th. Centralia will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
