Basketball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Guerin Catholic's 17th in Last 19 Outings

Guerin Catholic had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victor by a 63-39 margin over the Tri-West Hendricks Bruins on Saturday. The Golden Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 21 points or more this season.

Ryne Paris continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 57% from the field on his way to 20 points along with five assists and four steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Bryson Cardinal was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and ten boards.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Guerin Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tri-West Hendricks only one assist.

Tri-West Hendricks' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Daniel Thomas, who posted 11 points and three steals, and Wes Ward, who put up nine points and four blocks. Thomas is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kellen Dakin, who had five points.

Guerin Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 19 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.9 points over those games. Tri-West Hendricks moved to 18-7 with that loss, which also ended their ten-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Guerin Catholic will challenge New Palestine at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in New Palestine's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. Tri-West Hendricks does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
