There's no place like home for the Tohatchi Cougars, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against Zuni by a score of 80-68 on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Tohatchi was led to victory by Talan Long and Josh Dawes. Long scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Dawes dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten assists. It was the first time this season that Dawes posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Kyle Yazzie, who scored 12 points along with five steals.
Tohatchi's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Zuni, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tohatchi will take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Navajo Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine games -- so hopefully the Cougars like a good challenge. As for Zuni, they will be playing at home against the Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
