Baseball Recap: Clark Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

After losing to Eldorado the last time they met, Clark decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Clark Chargers came out on top against the Eldorado Firehawks by a score of 8-3 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chargers.

Kellen Anunson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Clark's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Sebastian Diaz and Cole Baren did most of the damage at the plate: Diaz scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Baren scored a run while going 1-for-2. Clark is undefeated when Diaz posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlos Valdes Cosme, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Clark pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 11.86 hits in those games compared to only 5.17 in the others. As for Eldorado, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clark will welcome Cimarron-Memorial at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Clark is facing Cimarron-Memorial at the right time seeing as Cimarron-Memorial is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Eldorado, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pinecrest Academy Cadence at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
