5A District 4 recap November 5, 2013
Carlsbad made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,825 from 3,227. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 35-21 victory over Hobbs last week.
The Cavemen led 5A District 4 in scoring this week after putting up 35 points on the Eagles.
6-foot-5 quarterback Rodney Holcon of Carlsbad is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,400. He has also thrown 16 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Travon Sopila. The Clovis star has 16 catches for 431 yards.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between Clovis and Ron Arrington's team. The Wildcats enters the contest ranked 12th in the state, while the Cavemen ranks 15th.
Next week's game between Carlsbad and Clovis will feature a good passing match up as Holcon will test his arm against Peyton Lott's defensive ability.
The league will see a high scoring game when Eric Roanhaus' team and the Cavemen face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Wildcats comes in having scored 316 this season, while Carlsbad has scored 235.
The Cavemen led the league in points allowed with 21.
