Baseball Recap: Oasis Drops Highest Score of Season Against Lely

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oasis). They never let the Lely Trojans get on the board and left with a 13-0 win on Tuesday. The Sharks not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 24, 2024.

Tanner Goff was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI.

In other batting news, Sean Osborn was a standout: he scored four runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Noah Pinney, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Oasis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Oasis' victory bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Lely, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oasis will take on Evangelical Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Evangelical Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Oasis' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lely, they will host Fort Myers at 7:00 p.m. on March 18th. Lely has given up an average of 11.9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
