Even though the Millard North Mustangs have not done well against the Omaha Westside Warriors recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Millard North managed a 52-48 victory over Omaha Westside. That's another feather in the cap for Millard North, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Millard North can attribute much of their success to Sara Harley, who scored nine points along with two steals. Harley has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Clara Welker was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Despite the loss, Omaha Westside still got an impressive performance from Kimora Jenkins, who scored 17 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sanai Foster, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Even though they lost, Omaha Westside were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millard North only racked up five assists.
Millard North's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Omaha Westside, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Millard North will take on Papillion-LaVista South at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Papillion-LaVista South is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games. As for Omaha Westside, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Millard West on January 26th. Millard West presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Omaha Westside in Nebraska (Millard West is ranked third, while Omaha Westside is ranked 29th).
