Basketball Recap: Ella De La Garza Key Part of a Team Effort in Shamrocks Win

Incarnate Word was handed a 69-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They had just enough and edged the Veterans Memorial Patriots out 58-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Shamrocks have posted since December 13, 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Incarnate Word to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ella De La Garza, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine assists. That's the most assists De La Garza has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aralynn Esquivel, who posted ten points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Incarnate Word's record is now 11-21. As for Veterans Memorial, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 17 of their last 19 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-26 record this season.

Incarnate Word will take on Savio at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Veterans Memorial, they will challenge Smithson Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Veterans Memorial is facing Smithson Valley at the right time seeing as Smithson Valley is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
